Making John 3:16 personal

When you share the Good News of Jesus Christ with someone, and that person is touched and is hungry to know more, there is something you can do to help him understand that Jesus is personally for him.

Open your Bible to John 3:16 -- it's a famous verse that you have memorized:  "God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son. Whoever believes in Him will not be lost but will have life forever."

Read this verse with that person.  Then tell him, "Let's read this again, and this time we will take out the words 'whoever' and 'world' and put your name in their place."   For example, suppose the person's name is Mary.  "God loved Mary so much that He gave His only Son.  When Mary believes in Him, she will not be lost but she will have life forever."

This will help "Mary" understand that Jesus has a relationship with her, and this will strengthen her faith.
